In Between Days

Here’s the new damn blog

Posted in Site Maintenance by Andrea Harris on January 1, 2009

I got nuthin’ yet. Hold on a minute.

Update: okay, sorry. Anyway, you’ll all have to re-register here. The link should be on the left, in the “Meta” section. (No I have no idea why the WordPress people have always called their admin link menu section “meta.” It’s kind of annoying.) Like the old site, everyone’s first comment will be held in moderation until I approve it — after that, all your comments will upload at once. I may got to bed early tonight though, because I am bored. I stopped watching tv a while ago — the fact that the USA channel is apparently having an Elf marathon (yes, the beyond retarded movie starring Will Ferrell) was the final straw. And tonight’s CSI:NY was a hostage plot. I hate hostage plots, they are so old and creaky but not in that attractively retro way but in an old, musty, can’t-think-of-another-series-to-rip-off way. I guess they figure everyone else is either drinking themselves blind or is, like me, turning themselves in early.

I picked this style sheet out of the standard offerings because I like it. I can’t seem to get the Paypal donation button to show up directly on the front page, though — I think they make you pay extra here or something? Anyway, I just put up a link to my old Spleenville main page, which has the Paypal link on it. See the top menu tab that says “Donate.” It’s a couple of extra clicks which some people may find annoying.

That’s all I can think of for now. The nonsense will resume either later or more likely, tomorrow. Unless my cable is out — the guy said he was going to come by and pick up my check, but he never made it. Maybe he just encountered too much party traffic and decided to eff off for the evening. His fault, I was home!

Happy New Year! and I’m hoping that the transition proceeds without any insurmountable glitches. Perhaps you ought to make a novena to St Louis, with all the stipulations and caveats that your ‘Take on ‘Religion” (there’s meta for you) requires, of course, ha.

Cold winds here in DC forced the cancellation of the fireworks displays in some places; not sure if they went off on the Mall because… I stayed in and watched an idiot film version of Pride and Prejudice before Morpheus overcame me at perhaps eleven. Midnight arrived without my attending to it.

OK, I’ve bookmarked the new site. I was guessing victorysoap/2009, but no, you fooled me.

    Happy New Year!

Oops — images are blocked in comments. But you can put a link up to them.

PS: I fixed the gravatar ratings to allow PG — that got your pic in. I don’t know why it’s PG-rated though.

It eventually occurred to me that I already had a WordPress.com login, and it works just fine here. Is that good or bad?

    It’s good!

I already had a WordPress login, too…though I don’t remember why. Doesn’t matter – Happy New Blog, Andrea!

Like your new blog, Andrea. Yes, things work a bit differently with WP.com than with a self-hosted WP.org blog but, as you said, it’s nice to let someone else worry about the back-end stuff.

And Happy New Year to ya’! Hope you make it to St. Looey soon.
